2. What is Trulicity?
Trulicity is an injectable medication used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in:
- Adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus
- Children 10 years and older with type 2 diabetes
It is also used in adults with type 2 diabetes who have cardiovascular disease or multiple risk factors to reduce the risk of serious heart events such as heart attack or stroke.
3. How Trulicity Works
Trulicity mimics a natural hormone called GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1).
It helps the body by:
- Increasing insulin release when blood sugar is high
- Reducing glucose production in the liver
- Slowing gastric emptying
- Reducing appetite
Unlike natural GLP-1, which lasts only minutes, Trulicity works for about one week, allowing once-weekly dosing.

5. How to Use Trulicity
- Inject once weekly on the same day

- Rotate injection sites each week
- Do not mix with insulin in the same injection
Missed Dose Instructions
- If missed and ≥3 days remain, take it as soon as possible
- If <3 days remain, skip and continue schedule
- Do not take two doses within 3 days

Thyroid Tumor Risk
